The date of the sixth edition of the Opitergium European Road Race Under 20 Trophy is made official. The organizing committee will be led by the president of the provincial Fidal, Dino Brunello. The promotion activity in major international events has begun: a stop also at the World Cup in Budapest.

Also this year, Oderzo will see the flags of half Europe waving: Saturday 16 September is the official date to welcome in the town the Opitergium European Road Race Under 20 Trophy, a road race review dedicated to the National Youth.

The countdown has formally begun with the establishment of a new organizing committee which will be led by the president of the provincial Fidal, Dino Brunello. The new committee also includes the director opitergino Giuseppe Zoni who conceived the event in 2017 and Madalin Badea who will support him. Francesco Uguagliati, the leader of the Fidal Regional Committee, has been appointed honorary president.

“We start a process that will take us far and has as its goal the further growth of an event that in the five previous editions involved National leaders in the European athletics scene – comments Brunello -. After steps that in recent months have also involved federal president Stefano Mei and regional president Francesco Uguagliati, the Fidal Provincial Committee has made available to organize the Opitergium European Road Race Under 20 Trophy with the aim of confirming the heritage of sporting and cultural values that it represents. We will have at our side the “Nuova Atletica Tre Comuni”, a club that has followed the growth of the event in recent seasons, but as president of the provincial FIDAL I can only hope for the widest possible involvement of Treviso clubs”.

Born six years ago as an opportunity for competitive confrontation, but also for cultural exchange among young athletes, the Opitergium European Road Race Under 20 Trophy has quickly grown overcoming even the difficult moment of the pandemic. In fact, last year, we could host thirteen National Teams, with Italy, France and England ideally leading the group.

The 2023 edition of the Opitergium European Road Race Under 20 Trophy boasts the prestigious Road Race Label released by World Athletics, the world athletic federation. The international promotion of the event has already begun at the recent World Indoor Championships in Istanbul and will also have as a milestone the summer event in Budapest. The future of European athletics will also pass through Oderzo.
